Elementary student : Collocations: make/do

- Verb pairing game

        The teacher highlights some collocations to the students then students divided into two groups. Group 1 will have corpus-derived sentences without the verb make and do. Group 2 will have the verb make and do

Student stand in lines facing each other the ones carrying verb will take turns trying to pair their verb with the sentence to other group has.

😍Modal Auxiliary in British English: A Corpus-Based Study 😍
of Modality Through British National Corpus

💗BNCweb is a web-based client program for searching and retrieving lexical, grammatical and textual data from the British National Corpus (BNC).

   💚Objectives

         BNCweb will e specifically applied through chosen modal verbs in order to:

        1. shed some light on modal verbs of ahich meanings are difficult to make distinction on theoretical background.

        2. affirm that modalities can be interchangeable due to different contexts, such as gender, type of data, perceived level of difficulty and etc.

    💚Method
   
         Three modal verbs ("should", "have to" and "must") will be scrutinized by available functions ("distribution", "collocation" and "concordance") via BNCweb in order to offer empirical information, such as grammatical usage and discursive practice, of modalities in British context. Details of methodology in each function will be subsequently explained in results and discussion section.

     Download the latest version of Antconc and watch YouTube tutorials from

1. Run the program.

2. Open Files or Open Dir.

3. Choose the function.

4. Clear All Tools and Files before selecting opening new files.

5. Save Output to Texts File to save output.

       1) Many struggling writers have language difficult and often less motivated to rite and fails to organize their ideas.
       2) Many struggling writers'primary writing problem involve a lack of confidence in producing text and insecure feeling about showing their writing to others

       3) Struggling writers are likely to develop negative attitudes towards writing and, thus, often have low motivation to write.

   Answer: The three degital writing tools are blogs, instnt messaging, and social network sites.
       1) Blogs
   👉A blog is a dicussion, informatiom article or personal journal, published on the World Wide Web. Blogs allow people to post or exchange information with no constraints on time and space.
       2) Instant Messeging (IM)-MSN, Line, Twitter, Skype, chat-room
   👉Instant Messeging (IM) is a form of internet-based, real time text communication between users on the system. IM allows one-on-one communication, although the users can invite a third or fourth person to join and already active to conversation.
       3) Social Network Site (SNS)
   👉A social network site (SNS) is a website which people share interest, create a public or semi-public profile, and interact with other users.The use of SNSs in education and language instruction has been prominent.Since learners use language as a tool to communicate and deliver theire messege, they will construct new knowledge  about language as they interact on SNSs.

   Answer: 

       1) Many digital writing applications offer an anonymity feature.They provide opportunities for users to use nicknames or pseudonyms.Because this way is will result in less anxiety and enhance interlanguage communication.
       2) Learners actually type out what they want to commuicate to the group or reader.
       3) Digital writing promote learners'equity in terms of interaction. Since all users are able to see everyone's messeges and respond to those messeges in real-time. This feature reduces teachers' authority, increase student-centered nearning, promotes student participation, and fosters negotiation of meaning.
  4) Many digital writings have history logs where users can view the history of the conversation they have had with others.
       5) Digital writing offers authentic language environments.
       6) Digital writing involve different modes of  representation combining text, audio, video, and/or interactive features.

❤❤The Use of Multimedia in English Teaching❤❤

❤What is multimedia ?
   Multimedia is the use of computers to present text, graphics, vide, animation, and sound in an integrated way.

❤Component of multimedia

1.Text💛

We can  use ordinary text or various typographic effect for emphasis or clarification in English teaching. In order to catch the reader's attention.

2.Graphics.💛
It refers to images and pictures, such as chart, diagram, and photograph, which can stimulate interesting and motivation. Graphics plays a very important role in language teaching process.

3.Animation💛 
 Animation is the rapid display of a sequence of images of 2-D or 3-D artwork or model position in order to create an illusion of movement. Teachers can highlight key knowledge points and heighten students' motivation.

4.Sound💛
Teacher can use more vivid and fruitful sound to help students' English learning.

5.Video💛
video can offer more vivid information. But it will consume more storage space than animation.

1.The necessity of development of modern education teaching
Modern education technology is a combination of modern education and modern technology. Multimedia appears in school widely, and gradually step into the front line of education. We can say that modern education technology must lead to develop of multi-media teaching. Only multimedia teaching can develop and improve the modern education technology well.

Cognitive psychology studies have to shown that 88% is the vision, 12% through hearing of the information learned. You can see that only the multimedia teaching system can fully mobilize the students' audio-visual and other sensory organ. Therefore, using multimedia teaching is very necessary, especially in English teaching; only effective co-ordination of multimedia can better complete the teaching task.

Albert Einstein said "Interest is the best teacher". and Leo Tolstoy said 'The successful teaching is not to force, but rather to stimulate student's desire". So if you know the meaning of multimedia, you will see it can stimulate the student's interesting and also make teaching become a vivid and lively.

Making student think they want to learn not the teacher want they to learn. It can enable students to tap into a good way of learning English independently.

In teaching, the teachers should pay attention to tap the imagination of students. To use multimedia can achieve the desired results and find unlimited resources in textbooks.💚

We can create real-life scenes in the classroom. It is not only to shorten the distance between teaching and practice and gives students the opportunity to use English to communicate.

The use of multimedia technologies can makes students notice a clear knowledge and a new expansion by huge information capacity which shows by all kinds of media.

-Confusion
Some English classes are totally dependent on multi-media, ignoring the roles of teachers.

-Performance on behalf of the lead.
Teachers use the multi-media presentation to replace the guidance of teachers completely and students also receive a lot via watching in class, without impression and consolidation from the presentation by multimedia.

-Lack of special skills.
Many teachers are not good at computer, the unskilled operation on computer would affect the instruction flow, which in turn would de-motive students if it happened frequently in class.

-Over use of multimedia.

the teacher's lack of enthusiasm and creation and his or her dependence on the multimedia technology, then the students can not practice the skill of content thinking, critical thinking and creative thinking from the teachers' lecture.

-Lack of interaction between teachers and students

The tie between the teachers and students becomes loose and it seems to them that teacher is only caring about the machine and they are also focusing on the screen.
